Counselors-in-Training
Summer 2024
Teens 13 to 18

Counselors-In-Training

For teens ages 13 to 18, we offer the opportunity to register for our single skill classes, and learn the skill of that class alongside the younger children in more of a leadership role as Counselors-In-Training. CITs will gradually be given more responsibility in leading the skill as they develop and learn for themselves. Each CIT will be paired with a Lead Teacher for each of our single skill classes throughout the summer, and will receive guidance on teaching the skill as well as working with younger children. Because we pair CITs with Lead Teachers, there is NO need for your teen to have specific experience with any particular skilll; your teen will learn the skill as they participate in the class.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
When applying, your teen may choose which classes he/she would like to attend as Counselor-In-Training (see schedule of classes below). By choosing these classes, your teen is committing to attend the full class as Counselor-In-Training from 9am to 2pm that day. When possible, we ask CITs to arrive a half hour before the class starts to help with setup, and to leave a half hour after class ends to help with cleanup.
Ideally, a Counselor-In-Training will attend an entire week (Tuesday through Friday) of classes, but we are open to your teen choosing whichever one-day classes they are available to attend.

ACCEPTANCE IN PROGRAM
Once we receive the completed application, we will review it and may request a brief meeting/interview with your teen. If your teen is accepted as a Counselor-in-Training, we will send you an invoice for the total number of classes they have registered to attend. (See below for cost breakdown). Your teen's spot is not guaranteed until the invoice is paid in full.

Teens must display maturity and willingness to coorperate with the Lead Teachers. We reserve the right to remove your teen from the program at any point if he/she cannot demonstrate these qualities.

IMPORTANT:
We will have an orientation class (date tbd) for all teens prior to your their first day as a Counselor-In-Training. Attendance at the orientation will be required and we will have flexible date/time options for this orientation to ensure this can happen.

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING FEES:
Your teen will gain valuable skills while attending the classes, along with one-on-one support from a Lead Teacher during the day. You will be invoiced for the entirety of your teen’s summer schedule and payment must be made in full prior to their start date.
You may mix and match ANY one-day classes to create your TEEN'S schedule for the summer ($55 per class).
Register for all classes within a week (Tu/W/Th/F) and receive a 20% discount ($175 per week).
Or register for ALL 32 individual classes this summer and receive a 30% discount ($1,230 per summer).
